 Tributes were made as the three-year-old child who was tragically died in an accident in Limerick was identified locally.

On Friday, a little child, just three years old, lost his life in a sad accident in the county of Limerick. Tributes have been offered to the youngster's family.

It is believed that the little child, who has been given the name Padraig Cunningham in the region, was killed on Friday morning at around 10.30 a.m. when he was struck by a car at a private property in the Ballyduhig neighborhood of West Limerick.

The emergency services went to the site and attempted to save the kid's life as best they could, but he was pronounced dead later at University Hospital Limerick. Despite their best efforts, the boy did not survive.

A local pathologist will do a post mortem examination, and the investigation will then be turned over to the office of the Limerick Coroner for an inquest to be carried out.

"There isn't much you can say that will soothe them or help them because it's so personal to the family," he added. "What can one say because it's so personal to the family?"

"This is really a terrible turn of events for the disadvantaged family. The local community as a whole has a great deal of sympathy and understanding for them and what they are going through.

A representative for the Garda confirmed the following: "Garda and emergency services visited the scene of an incident on private property this morning, Friday, July 22nd 2022, in Broadford, Co. Limerick."
